Life can be ever-changing bringing us moments that impact our overall human experience. These human experiences can elicit a range of emotions that can be complex and affect our sense of the world. Counseling is a unique process that can help you find meaning within these experiences and give you a space where your story is heard. As a trauma-informed counselor, I work to create a safe and affirming atmosphere where clients feel understood and fully accepted for who they are. I believe that an authentic and empathic therapeutic relationship is one of the most crucial attributes of healing and growth. I strive to promote resiliency within my clients by providing psychoeducation, empowering them to create goals for their therapeutic experience, and most importantly, meeting them where they are at in their walk of life.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Minor in Women’s Studies and a certificate in LGBT studies from Northern Illinois University. I have also earned a Master of Science in Education in Counseling degree from Northern Illinois University and obtained a Master’s Level professional certification in Trauma-Informed Counseling. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and am 40-hour trained in sexual assault crisis intervention. Professional experiences I have include working with sexual assault/abuse survivors and their significant others, complex trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, general life transitions, addiction, interpersonal conflicts, depression, anxiety, ADHD, low self-esteem, personality disorders, and body image issues. I have also had experience working with individual, couples, and group counseling with ages ten and older.

As a person-centered therapist, I utilize a holistic approach to therapy while applying techniques from many evidence-based practices to meet my clients’ unique counseling needs. With both my clinical and educational experiences, I believe in the power of helping clients build a better relationship with themselves utilizing the Internal Family Systems Theory framework. I am inclusive to clients of all different backgrounds including age, race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and religious views.
